What you get

Offline maps — pan and search the world map even when you're not connected, with map tiles cached locally.
A native window — the full Codex in its own app, out of the browser and one click from your taskbar.
Automatic updates — new releases install themselves in the background, so you're always on the latest build.

Windows only for now. The installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn you the first time — click More info → Run anyway to continue. After that, updates apply silently.

Everything in the app is also right here in your browser — no download needed. The desktop build just adds offline maps and a native window for players who want the Codex always a click away.
